Dr. Brian Leach joined The Skin Surgery Center of Charleston in 2017 as a Fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon and serves our Charleston office. He brings 24+ years of experience in both civilian and military medical care.
Dr. Leach earned his Medical degree from the Tulane University School of Medicine and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Centenary College of Louisiana. He completed an internship at the Madigan Army Medical Center in Ft. Lewis, Wash., a residency in Dermatology at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, Calif., and a Fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Procedural Dermatology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C. He previously served as Associate Professor in the Departments of Dermatology/Dermatologic Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina at Charleston.
Dr. Leach has authored more than a dozen scientific publications and presented extensively at local, regional, national and international conferences. He was a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army and Air Force for twelve-and-a-half years of Active duty military service, and for one year in the USAF Reserves. Additionally, Dr. Leach is a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery, the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery.

09/96 – 10/96 Provided sole medical support on 25 day mission for the Institute for Eurasian Studies, Garmisch, Germany. Delivered medical support to official travelling party and local Russian nationals crossing Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Siberia.
06/96 – 11/96 Assumed responsibilities as Chief of the International Outpatient Clinic, SHAPE Healthcare
Facility. Oversaw and directed the daily operations of 12 International physicians from Italy, Turkey, Greece, Belgium, the Netherlands, Canada, Germany and the United Kingdom and provided medical care to all members of a diverse International community.
10/97 – 11/97 Deployed as the sole U.S. Physician with the Southern European Task Force for Operation Atlas Drop, a joint exercise with the Tunisian Special Forces in Bizerte, Tunisia. Coordinated and supervised the first-ever Mass Casualty/ MedEvac exercise between the U.S. and Tunisian Military Medical Forces.
